Xero Product Updates - September 2023

all the best updates to xero

Please find below our round-up of Xero Product Updates from the last few months.

Quite a bit to go through - so strap yourself in & let’s get going! 🙂

🚀 CORE XERO:

You can now customise your columns in Bills List View to see the most important information first and remove columns you don't need.

You can now use the free text field within 'Contacts' to add information about your contact, anything that you'd like to store within Xero against their record.

On bank reconciliation, when entering details for the first time on the right hand side, Xero will now automatically refresh to memorise those details for next time (without you needing to manually refresh) - just as a side note, our experience is that you still need to manually refresh on mobile app, but hopefully that will soon be sorted!

Improvements to the Global search bar.

Improvements to the Help menu, so you can still use this feature when navigating around Xero.

The Contacts overview page has had a refresh, making it easier to find the information you need.

Analytics Plus - more accurate short-term cash flow predictions. Xero will use regular invoices and bills to predict upcoming invoices and bills for a more accurate short-term cash flow dashboard. Edit your short-term cash flow projection to include or exclude VAT amounts.

🚀 NEW DIRECT BANK FEEDS (UK):

  •  WayFlyer

  • Modulr

  • SPRK Capital

  • 3S Money

  • Sonovate

  • Blink

🚀 REPORTING:

You can now view the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Budget Variance, the Receivable and Payable Invoice Summary and Detail, Income by Contact, and Expenses by Contact reports, in any currency that you've enabled within Settings.

Improvements to the Realised Gains and Losses report:

  • Available as a stand-alone report in the Report Centre

  • ʻAccounts Payableʼ and ʻAccounts Receivableʼ are now available in one view

  • Display one, some or all currencies

  • ʻContactʼ and ʻCurrencyʼ columns are now available

  • Renamed columns for clarity

  • Customisable columns and filters

Improvements to the General Ledger Summary and Detail reports:

  • Access the General Ledger Detail as a standalone report

  • Switch easily from the Summary to the Detail report

  • Customise columns, including ʻJournal IDʼ and ʻAccounts Typeʼ

  • Use filters to focus on information you want to see

  • Save customised reports with your personal preferences

Any users with the adviser role can set specific reporting preferences, so you donʼt have to adjust the settings for each report (via Reporting Preferences).

Enhancements to Invoices Reports, including details & fields down the left side.

Greater flexibility when adding tracking categories to new reports. You can now:

  • Filter reports by your tracking category options

  • Compare two or more tracking categories at the same time

🚀 XERO MOBILE APP:

Improvements to the suggested match experience - personally, this is one of our favourite recent updates as it's a lot more intuitive & the UI is much better!

The bank reconciliation screen has had an update, making it easier to see multiple transactions on the same screen, as well as more information about the transaction.

You can now archive and restore contacts.

If you aren't using the Xero mobile app, or haven't used it for a while, it's definitely worth checking out - we use it daily for our own reconciling!

🚀 XERO PAYROLL:

Improved the taxes page to make it easier for payroll admins to add an employee's taxes information.

Additional built in guidance and increased flexibility to edit and update fields.

New subheadings to the Payroll menu & new labels -

  • Employee tasks sit under the ʻEmployee managementʼ.

  • Paying employees and related tasks sit under ʻPayroll processingʼ.

  • Payroll settings sit under ʻAdministrationʼ.

🚀 XERO EXPENSES / XERO ME:

Expense approvers can now approve expense claims in the Xero Me mobile app. Employees no longer need to download and use two separate apps.

You can also now duplicate an existing expense claim, which saves time for when there are frequent claims with similar details.

🚀 XERO PROJECTS:

Updates to the Detailed Time Report, including new features on start/end times as well as new fields available.

Unassigned bills are now included in search results, making it easier to find and assign expenses to relevant projects.

🚀 GOCARDLESS / PAYMENT SERVICES:

You can now send direct debit mandates to customers directly from Xero before an invoice is sent, straight from the Contacts list screen.

Xero have made it easier to see and manage which payment services are offered on an invoice, this lets you double check and amend the payment method before sending it to your customer.

🚀 HUBDOC:

Hubdoc now remembers configurations for multiple line items. Click ʻAdd last itemsʼ to populate line items with data from the last published transaction for each supplier.

The Hubdoc mobile app is being updated:

  • Capture receipts on the go

  • Switch between light and dark modes

  • Preview the receipt with a status tag

  • View more information in the file, such as supplier, due date, subtotal and tax

🚀 XERO APP STORE:

WorkflowMax will be retiring with effect from 26th June 2024. Xero are working with BlueRock on a solution which should be available by early 2024.
